Men’s Breakfast Ministry kick-off September 11th 2012

Every member of the St. Peter’s Men’s Breakfast Ministry can tell you what they were doing at 7:45 a.m. that second Tuesday of September, 2001; most people can.
On September 11, 2012, St. Peter’s Men’s Breakfast group marked the anniversary by welcoming Ladue Police and Fire Districts to the church for a hearty breakfast and welcome fellowship. Dubbed “The First Responder’s Breakfast”:
- Hal Burroughs was in charge of four-dozen perfectly scrambled eggs.
- Bob Harre brought two pans of his famous family recipe breakfast casseroles. Amazing!
- Doug Nelson provided oversight on the biscuits and gravy.
- Bud Wilson made pure magic over six pounds of bacon and sausage.
We opened the gathering with the First Responder’s Prayer by Reverend Robert Crutchfield:
Lord,
Please make me strong when others are weak, brave when others are afraid and vigilant when others are distracted by the chaos. Provide comfort and companionship to my family when I must be away. Serve beside me and protect me, as I seek to protect others.
“Everything looks fabulous!”, said Ladue Fire Department Chief Johnson on his way back for seconds. Eleven firemen and six members of Ladue Police Department arrived at 7:30 a.m. to an amazing display of generosity and appreciation from our parishioners.
When all was said and done, dishes washed and were put away, it was agreed by all that “The First Responder’s Breakfast” at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church would be an annual event welcoming first responders from neighboring communities and the rest of the parish.
